Yeah, sure. I don't see a problem with silver dollars in a biggish tank with some plecos.
Beware tho' that the silver dollars will grow large, and see any plant as a "tasty" thing.

Had 3 SD's in with a a couple of plecs for awhile they all got along fine the only problem is the SD's will eat anything you put in for the plecs especially lettuce.

My 10 XL
Myleus rubripinnis eat
anything I put in the tank - peas, lettuce, shrimp, fish meat, mussels, even sinking pellets. And plants, of course.
But at least they stay away from the cats.

Most silver dollar species (Metynnis) aren't very brave to say the least. There's no way they're going to attack any other fish, let alone plecs.
So you can easily combine them.

Silver dollars and plecos or for that matter most catfish go together well as long as you have a large enough tank. I have 9 Myleus schomburgkii in a 125 gallon tank with assorted catfish. They all get together well. The silver dollars are very nervous though and you have to be careful not to startle them. Also, they will eat all plants. Being very active, the silver dollars help to bring the catfish out from hiding.

Silver dollars & lot's of species of cats go really together (obviously not cats with specific water condition requirements, such as tanganyikans etc or large predators!)
As mentioned they can decimate planted tanks although some success can be found with Java Fern as long as the SDs are kept well fed.
in considerable shoals (like the ones mentioned) they do look very impressive indeed

This is a picture of my tank of some years ago.
It was the third time that I kept Metynnis and still every time I see them I'm in doubt whether or not to buy them (again). Brilliant fishes with only one tricky side: swimming lawn mowers
