So far I have this info:
"Ancistrus claro Knaack, 1999
Common Name(s) Gold Marble Bristlenose Catfish, LDA08
Type Locality Brazil, Mato Grosso, Rio Claro, above the bridge, in the direction of Chappada dos Guimaraes"
I would appreciate pics of these interesting catfish from those who keep them. Also, info as to tank size and tank mates. Will they eat my aquarium plants?
Thanks
Marge

Hi,
Have you even tried searching the site? The cat-eLog entry for
appears to have this info?

Yes I have, The cat-eLog entry for claro says:
"Not a picky eater, will eat about anything, from vegetables to bloodworms. A vegetable diet is preferable and animal proteins can be given once or twice a week but should not make up the main diet."
Sooo... Would someone who keeps these please let me know.. does this mean the claro will or will not eat my plants?
Thanks

I have a group of these and in their tank there are anubias, java fern and java moss, they do not touch any of these, I rarely even see them among the plants and sticks prefering to stay in and under the rockwork. It is a rare occasion to even see a youngster on the large anubias leaves and there are quite a few in this tank now. They do seem easy to feed and fairly active as far as ancistrus go.I would be careful what other fish go in the tank with them as they do stay rather small.

Marge,
The cat-eLog entry also says "safe with robust plants"! I've kept these fish and they didn't damage plants. I'd say it depends on the plants but they did not molest my java fern, anubias or java moss.

Hi they will be fine with plants but be careful what fish you put them with if any as they are easily pushed out at feeding time because of their small size. I can recommend them wholeheartedly

Ancistrus claro keeping is the same as common Ancistrus sp 3 when they are the same size. They are on my plant safe list of fish.
