Some fish a shop is advertising as LDA19, which they sent me some pictures of to check their ID.
Are they L129 or L340, or something else ?
Hope you can help.
Edit;
A couple of pictures of some L129 i already have;

I'd say L129, rather than L340 - but that's just going by what it looks like.

Even though I have dozens of Hypancistrus I am always struck by their facial resemblance to a frog.

Hi,
you cannot tell from these pictures.
The "easiest" way is counting teeth. H. sp. "L340" has significantly less teeth than H. debilittera.
According to some people, headshape (seen from above!) is indicative, too. Haven“t seen enough definitely identified specimen of both types in different conditions to bet my lousy income on it.. ;)
Cheers, Sandor

Thanks
After searching the web for L199 H. furunculus, i found some good pictures on a German site, which help confirm they are L199 to me, though the ones i am going to get, look juvenile specimens and will have a bit of growing to do.
I did read that they grow to 4" and only breed when adult.

They are just black and white as youngsters, with age and size they change colour to more brownish...so they are still H. furunculus.

Thanks Janne
They are all at least 4" in size, so i've got a mature group.
