Housing 3 different plecos together

Post by bushynose_cory »

Could this be done? One pair of Ancistrus teminkii(?), 1 pair ancistrus sp.3 and one gold nugget in the same tank, decorated with wood and some floating, fast-growing plants like anacharis or hornwort.

I wouldn't have two different Ancistrus species in the same tank, just in case they breed. [And it's unlikely that you have - it is not common in the trade, although many species are sold under this name, including A. sp(3)].

Gold nugget will be OK in the same tank as an Ancistrus, although if you plan on breeding the Ancistrus, the gold nugget will probably be a bit "too cool" - they prefer quite warm water.

Yeah it's just that I think I have a pair of sp.3 and a good discus shore has these plain brown ancistrus, and they looked like teminkiis(Say a pic in a book)

In that case, I think I'll keep just one specie :)

Oh yeah hey, I've kept my sp.3 since they wehre under an inch. Now I have 2 left, and one is bigger and has male bristles all other him, while the other doesn't have a single one! Could they be a pair? Don't the females have some too?
