Hi

I rescued this odd looking Syno from an aquarium I've been hired to maintain. I've never seen one quite like it before. It's about 7" long, has a huge mouth and odd mottled brown/white complexion and was hidden away amongst a large mixed community tank.

I think it might be a hybrid of sorts. Does anyone know any better?

Apologies for the poor quality snaps. They were taken on a mobile phone.

Thanks
Vern

It looks like one of the shorter-bodied species (S. obesus?) with the lateral line “erosion” frequently seen in synos (see this thread).
