One of the "lookalikes" that is similar to
- e.g. L80, L38, L377, etc. Have a look at
.
Unfortunately, there are several of these fish that look fairly similar, and it's really only easy to tell them apart if you know where they come from, since they haven't been scientifically described, so there's no rules on what makes it which one.
Maybe someone else can come up with a more precise answer. Any idea where it was exported from?

They have a similar pattern to L199, but to me, they have more of the Peckoltia body shape than a Hypancistrus, but I've been wrong on those things before.

A Peckoltia species would be my guess. The fish I used as my avatar was an on line purchase and sold as L199 but was a P. vittata to me. It's banded pattern was made up of more evenly sized bands than your fish but as Mats says there are so many similar fish.

I agree...it doesn't look hypancistrus-y to me. What name did you buy it under?

Hi!
They look similar to Peckoltia sp L278 from Venezuela
eventually it could be a Peckoltia sp L377 from brasil
it is the 2 closest species I could come across!
It would interesting to know the origin of the export, Colombia or Brasil as it would lead us to a single species
Cheers
