Sold as Pimelodus pictus, Looks Like Ictaluridae

Ok, I went to the little goldfish shack today and I saw this little guy. The shop's owner couldn't id him and assumed he was a pimelodus pictus, but would sell it to me for $5 if I wanted it. I bought him because I looked at the barbel arrangement and it seemed to say Ictaluridae to me. The coloration is nothing like I've seen before on a catfish, but it might be because it is a juvinile coloration.
The first pic shows the barbel structure, and the last pic is a top view. The roll of tape in the corner is a roll of scotch tape that is almost gone (he's that small!)
His tail is forked so it is not a madtom (Noturus sp.) and most likely not a bullhead.
Perhaps Ameiurus catus?
