Gibbiceps Help!

Hi,
My adult Gibbiceps hasn't eaten in over a week and is producing long stringy mucousy strands of faeces. Nothing was changed in the tank. I've done continuous water changes. All parameters seem to be fine. All the other fish seem OK too. I've treated the tank with an anti-parasitic before and nothing new has been added since and all food is tablet/flake so I don't think parasites could be the problem. I've removed all the bog oak from the tank in case it's blue-green algae. There are no external signs that's anything is wrong with it. Colour is good, no extended stomach, etc.

Any ideas? Please!

Those symptoms are usually the sign of intestinal worm/flagellate infection. The medications that work on flagellates don't necessarily work on worms, and if your anti-parasitic medication (presumably one for worms?) didn't work, maybe you should try another.

Thanks HH!

I treated them before with Sterazin produced by Waterlife (http://www.waterlife.co.uk). It claims it treats intestinal worms at well as gill and body parasites. Any suggestions as to a better alternative?
I'm also abandoning my fish tank for 2 weeks on Saturday so this could not have happened at a worse time :(

I think you should try treating with something that will deal with flagellate (protozoan) parasites, like nitrofurazone.
