Hey Everyone,

Just wondering whether any of you have kept any Pseudohemiodon sp. as a local aquarium has some in and they look pretty awesome. Just wondering would they like a bit of current and whether they could go with any other Whiptail Catfish ( eg. Sturisoma ) ?

Thanks in advance,

James.

Thanks for that Mats, awesome pics as well :D If I buy em I'll probably chuck em in a 4x2x2 with some Discus and maybe some Sturisoma.

Hi James,

As I noticed the most Pseudohemiodon and also the near related Crossoloricaria species like to have a bit of current. Mostly they lie in the Sand with the head contrary to the current.
It is no problem to keep them together with other whiptails.

best regards
Norman

Sturisoma sometimes attack discus. I had ten with ten Heckels and the Surisoma harassed them until their skin was raw. I had to remove the Sturisoma and the discus have been fine ever since.

The other cats will be fine.

Yes, they enjoy a gentle current.

As they bury in sand, the current can't be too powerful as it blows the sand away.

In a warm discus tank make sure they have enough oxygen.
