Breeding L66

I've got 1 male and two female L66.

I would like it if I can breed them, so I've got me a 240 liter tank.

I could get an extra male and 1 female and I could place them with my 3 L66.

My question is....what should I do?
Would they be more easy to breed when I have 5 of them? ( 2 male, 3 fem.)

If you are certain about the sex of the ones you have, then that would be fine. Have you read the articles about breeding various Hypancistrus species in the "Shaene's world" section? All known Hypancistrus appear to be similar in how you breed then, just that the fish are slightly different colours and sizes, and perhaps somewhat different needs as to temperature and such.

Yeah, I read it all. Several times :)

Thanks for the reply.

I will start the tank with 3 L66.

Patience and a not inconsiderable amount of good fortune seem to be important factors when breeding L66 and other Hypancistrus species from what I can tell.

I have been trying over 1-1/2 years and with ten species and have nothing to show for my efforts. I have used all the tricks but so far without results other than a lot of nice specimens in my collection.

But I think thats the most important.
The main thing for me is to enjoy watching them.

But I think that if I give the 3 Plecos the room they need for breeding than the are kept in acceptable conditions.
