I saw these guys for sale locally here in the U.S. They had some other "common name" for it. They also wanted $59.99 USD!

Hopefuly that at least gives you a price point for comparision. Sorry I don't really know much about these guys...

I bought one recently he's only about 5cm but he's a very pretty little catfish, likes to bury himself in sand under a log and wave his tail around I feed the tank a mix of food; NLS Thera A, ColourBits, Mysis Shrimp and Hikari Algae Wafers. I'm yet to put any veggies in there but he seems to like the NLS the most. He cost me a bit more then $59.99 USD as well...

He is a lot mroe active during the day compared to my other catties.

Something i think you should know before buying them that is true for all the big Leporacanthicus is that they can get quite aggressive especially when they pass the juvenile stage...Then many times the bitings start...So its better to not house it with small peacefull plecos but rather with ones that are either fast or can take care of themselves and fight back...
Also because of their final size and aggressuve behaviour,you will at some point need a 1,5meter tank to house them properly...

I have a single four inch L91 and so far, he is very mild mannered. He just sits under his log during the day. I have two L075 - Peckoltia sabaji, about three inches, in the same tank with the L91. I have had no aggression problems yet. I hope I will not encounter aggression problems if the L91 doesn't have a mate, and they all have a piece of wood to call their own.

At 4inch he is very young to cause any problems...Let it reach 6inch and then you will probably see another fish...Although i wish yours doesnt turn aggressive...And L75s are very able to look after themselves It also helps that they are two...
The problem with this fish is that it calls home all the tank if its not very big...

I am not planning on housing my potential purchase with any other plecos, probably just a school of Cardinal Tetras. Would Corydoras be safe if I added them? Or would an L091 view them as "shelled crustaceans"?
The specimen I'm thinking of buying is 7cm, and I'm putting it into a 200ltr (footprint 85cm x 45cm) tank. All my tanks are this size or smaller, I don't have any plans on upgrading at the present time...too small?

I dont think it will present any threat to the Corys as many keep Leporacanthicus sp. with Corys with no problems...
Yes,that size a tank is a bit small to properly house an L91...At the size you will get him the tank will be fine for him and untill he reaches 20cm,but when he reaches 25cm,the tank will be a bit small for him...But Leporacanthicus are quite slow growers so you will have him for years before he passes 20cm and until then you will probably be able to buy him a bigger tank...You will also like him a lot by that time that you wont want to give him away...

I agree with Kostas, these pretty plecos get very large and behave just like most large plecos and need plenty of room to avoid stunting.
