Hi all,

I got a green phantom delivered on the 31st last month. He was bagged up on the 30th so thats 10-11 days not eating- im worried about him.

Its condition looks ok-from what I can see. Its fins are a bit tatty not too bad, probably from the shipping. He is 3 about inches long. I think it is a Baryancistrus demantoides. Is spends all day attached to the glass hiding behind a piece of bogwood, I have seen him out at night.

Tank conditions are good: ph 6.8, kh 4, gh 5, temp 28 ish 0c- as it is hot at the moment. Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0-10. 160 gallon tank. At the moment he lives with cardinals and rummy nose tetras only. Water changes are 50% weekly.

Ive tried feeding zucchni, potato, carrot, shrimp, algae wafers and blood worm with no luck.

Im starting to think mabie I should med him? Ive got Flubenol 15 which I use as a discus wormer, also got Melafix. Are these meds safe with the plec?

Hi,
I would try rubbing or soaking the veggies with garlic it helps make the food more appealing(he may not be used to veggies either). How is he looking? Is the stomach sunken in? I think he is acclimating to your tank. I would keep introducing the veggies everyday. He is omnivorous so should like meaty food every so often. Really check the food when you remove it. I have a clown that I know eats the veggies but you really have to look to see it. HTH Adam

I have a lot of L-200s. Both the Hemi and the Bary´s. There is one food item they prefer above anything else...... Canned green peas or the frozen equivalent.

Otherwise I would suggest only buying healthy animals. If a fish gets cought in a downward spiral of starvation it cannot be rescued. Unfortunatly there is a certain point of no return. Generally I believe that feeding L-200´s is very easy. They are very omnivourus and loves to eat.
