Ancistrus black?
Ancistrus black?
Hello!
About a year ago I bought two catfishes from my local aquarist. He got them from his supplier as "wildcatched ancistrus black", but didnt know much more about them. Unfortunately one of them died after a short while but i still have the other one. So my question is, what catfish is it? L-number and so on.
Probably a female, 7-8 cm long.
And here is a picture :

Thankful for any help.

No it doesn't have Fused dorsal and adipose fin, so it's not that one. I don't know the word for it in english, but notice that it has a "moustache" like an ordinary ancistrus. The l239 didn't have that, as far as i could see.
I found another picture, it's not taken recently though but i hope it might be helpful.

I looked at the Ancistrus sp. (L071)and Oligancistrus sp. (L363)but they have some differences from my fish. The L088 looks as good as identical, mine is a bit darker though, but it has the same features. Wasn't much facts about it on your link Silurus, is it a uncommon fish?
Thanks for all the help and suggestions about what it might be, very appreciated.

How about Ancistrus sp. blauauge as described by shane when I asked about the ones I have on plecofanatics.
Thread is here: http://www.plecofanatics.com/forum/show ... t=blauauge
but gallery seems to be playing up there so you can find a pic of my female here: http://www.plecofanatics.com/gallery/sh ... serid=5681
I have spawned these twice now and they do not seem any harder to spawn than other blackwater ancistrus. Also as they grew they lost the white edge to dorsal and caudal fins but the fry have them.
