Bronze Cory not well

Hello all

I have noticed a problem in the last couple of days with one of my Bronze Corys.

There is no visible sign of damage or infection on the Cory so I am at a loss to what could be wrong.

As requested by the site I have listed my tank details below:

1. Water parameters
a) 76 Degrees F
b) PH 7.2
c) GH 14
d) KH 6
e) Ammonia - 0, Nitrate - <10, Nitrite - 0
f) Water changes - 20% once weekly

2. Tank Setup
a) Size - 36" x 12" x 18" (W x D x H)
b) Substrate - Roman Gravel from Pettex
c) Filtration - Fluval 205 Ext.
d) Furnishings - Heavily Planted plus Mopani logs
e) Other tank mates - Platys, Neon Tetras, Mollies
f) How long has it been set-up? - 12 months +

3. Symptoms / Problem description

The Cory is very lethargic and just lays at the front of the tank on his side, basically looking as if he is dead.

4. Action taken (if any)

None as yet.

5. Medications used (if any)

None as yet as problem not known.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Is that bronze just bought from LFS?
Is it still feeding?
How big is it?

Hello Freshman

No, he is one of my originals and is nearly 1 year old but did originally come from the lfs.

I could not say with 100% if he is feeding normally but the sinking tabs I feed at night have all gone by the morning but that could be the others eating them.

As for size he is roughly 1.5" and is one of the larger ones.

Thanks in advance

Hi Kevin,

Perhaps you would like to observe it closer to see whether is it eating. Throw in some pellets to test its response. From what I know, a healthy cory will rush immediately to the food or start to 'dig around' among the gravels.

I always associate lethargic behavior with internal problem. So maybe you can search here for related stuff.

Btw, did the tank undergo any major changes in the past few days before that bronze started to act strangely?

That's all I can think of. Sorry if I can't help much.

*I think maybe a picture of it will help the discussion.

Hello again

Well, I dropped some wafers in and all of the other Corys flocked to the food and fought over it but the ill Cory did not come out so something is definately not right.

Thanks in advance

Hey,

Yeah, a clear sign for a Cory being ill is if he/she does not come out to feed. Everyday I watch all my Cories chow down to make sure none are not eating.

Just keep watching your Cory very closely.... maybe try a water change.....it might spunk him up.

A pic would be helpful.

Good luck!
