Sturisoma aureum spawn

Post by apistomaster »

My S. aureum have decided to join in the other reported spawns. My fish are wild caught and I have had them just over a year. I found my first fry yesterday during a water change and then woke up this morning to find them spawning again. This time I will pay attention to their care. Breeders have been fed mostly earthworm sticks and live blackworms. The fish were interrupted when I switched on the light. I took a couple of photos and turned the lights off and they resumed spawning
Here is an overview with and Amano Shrimp and a jealous male looking on in the background the pair are the two on the end glass panel, of course. The pink spots are albino Ancistrus fry.

Then the close up show the female with eggs.

I don't mind if they keep this up. They will rest when their ready. I waited a year and they eat one out of house and home; only fair they give something back. :)
