I hope somebody can ID this guy. I've had him for 2 + years. The pleco is about 8 inches and hasn't grown for a while. I beleive it's pretty much maxed out in size. Any help will be appreciated.

Here are a few pics.

Size pretty much disqualifies L012. A clearer pic is really needed, but I'm thinking of something more Hypostomus-like.

Maybe it's an adult P.sabaj. Some of this group are more brightly coloured in their early years. The colours, as on the L-147, muddle as they age. I was shocked as the size the L-147 attained(17 cm). P.sabaj can attain lengths of 20cm. Just a guess.

It looks like a sailfin pleco to me;

Either way though, what size tank are you keeping this pleco in and what do you feed it and how often on average?

definitely not a Sailfin. the count of finrays fits a true Hypostomus.

Hypostomus get fairly large, but most species hover around 25 cm or so? wich is a lot more manageble than the 50+ cm of a fully grown Pterygoplichthys.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try to get a better pic. He doesnt seem to like the camera. I usually get one pic and then hes hides in one of the caves.I think he doesnt like the flash. He's in a 360G Hap tank right now. I can tell you he's one tough cookie, nobody messes w/ him. I usually feed algae wafer after lights out. Although, he will come out and eat NLS with the cichlids.
