Gold Nugget Behavior?

Post by PoohBear »

I have read that Gold Nuggets are VERY territorial towards other plecos, including others of different species. Do they have to get to a certain size to become territorial? Does there have to be a female around for them to exhibit this behavior? What are your experiences with keeping them in a community of different species of plecos?

They are not extremely aggressive in my experience. But with all fish, you find some that are more mellow or more agressive than others...

They definitely will defend their food against others, so you're better off feeding in multiple places in the tank.
