A few threads on here mention a fish breeder in England that has succesfully breed S. granulosus but I can find no other information on the subject anywhere.

I have a great interest in this because I research early development in the Synodontis genus. For a while now we have wanted to compare the development of this species to other Tanganyikan Synodontis.

Has anyone heard more about this?

Also, our lab is looking trying to spawn S. granulosus ourselves using hormones. Do any of you have contacts as to where I could find a dealer with granulosus?

The breeder in question is a chap called Gavin at Neil Hardy Aquatica, here in the uk. I have a couple of the young as do many others in these forums. Mine have been slow in growth so far - compared to lucipinnis or multipunctatus.

Gavin is a really nice chap & very helpful but obviously with the commercial aspect, i'm not sure how much he will reveal if you get to speak to him but it's worth a shot.

As far as granulosus availability in the states goes - i've not a clue other than the Aquabid thread in the african section of the forums

Do you have any contact information for Gavin? As a research laboratory we are not interested in this species as a commercial avenue; in fact it is illegal for a lab to sell lab property. Our interest in breeding granulosus is to obtain embryos for our developmental studies.

I'm not sure if they can ship to the states but they ship to England so all you can do is ask.
