Acanthicus micropunctatus

Post by Polit »

I brought these in as acanthicus micropunctatus, they don't appear to be anything like hystrix or adonis and nothing like any pseudacanthicus. Does anybody have any idea what it really is? I was thinking more Hypostomus or Squaliforma.

Doing a search in fishbase on "micropunctatus" with no genus gives three hits, of which two are , which is a synonym of Hypostomus micropunctatus.

I'd say your fish looks more like a "standard hypostomus" than the more elongate Aphanotorulus, but that could be the angle of the picture.
