Can anyone help me identify these two species, supposedly from Peru?

The first picture shows a afaik.
Can't help you with the Corys.

First fish could be C. stenocephalus or C-78 I guess.

Second picture could be C-102 or C-128, but there's something about the brown colout and the markings on the caudal fin that confuses me.

I don't think the first picture is a not enough rays in the dorsal and I think I can see a darker blotch in the flank; maybe a dark pic of a dark as previously suggested by Kim.

The other one is close to ?

C. stenocephalus does appear to be the best match for the first fish in my opinion as well. All five fish are quite tall, however, and I wonder whether they could be very old individuals. They also lack any kind of vertical stripes in tail fin.

The second fish are also fully grown, and the presence of only four brown vertical stripes on the tail fin is most peculiar. I don't think the body shape matches the C-102 or the C-128.

On the first, with the caudal having no markings to it, would suggest it is C78.


On the second one, imho; looks very similar to C128, If there is a dark blotch present near to the top of the dorsal fin,

the two photo's of C128 shows four brown vertical stripes to the caudal fin.

I think the first is possibly a C78 and the second picture shows what I would say were C128

No, they have either six of seven stripes. The difference in the width of the lighter areas is significant.

Doubtlessly they're very closely related to C128. It is interesting that the Rio Madeira basin does not extend as far as Peru, so the location where C128 has previously been found is very far away.

I'm not saying they are the same, but the Madeira river is connected to the Madre De Dios region in Peru. "Gone Wild Peru" is a company that collects fish from the Madre De Dios region for the aquatic trade.
