After losing all of my fish from a 9 day power outage, I finally got some replacements in yesterday. Here's what I picked up.
L333 X 3
L25
L273
L90
L200
L264 X 2
L114

All for $110. It's good to have something to look at in my tanks again.

Uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) meant for computers are quite reasonable nowadays... I would imagine the heater would be the biggest amp draw. If you bought one for the pump & light and one for the heater, you should be able to get by without electricity for a couple of days. The worst part would be the beeping alarm. I have a 600 watt power inverter in my van (I have a computer repair company and need 115 volts sometimes)and I know you can buy 1KW models. This might be a better solution than a UPS because you could charge an auto battery with jumper cables. Just keep switching batteries. And the alarm wouldn't go off until the battery got low.

One more thing, if you use batteries and an inverter, you will want to use deep cycle marine batteries, NOT auto batteries. You can use a couple at a time, hooked up in parallel.

I needed something bigger. Outage was due to an ice storm. My house was down to 34F. I have a 5500 watt generator now which will be enough to provide power for all 10 tanks if anything like that happens again.

Sounds like you got a lot of great fish!

I am glad that you have a generator now, may your fish live long and happy lives!
