Ok, this is going to be a very "technical" answer:
L236 is listed to come from Rio Iriri.
L399 and L400 are listed as Rio Xingu.

It appears, however, that the original L236 most likely originated from Rio Xingu, but it got shipped out of Brazil with a shipment from Rio Iriri, it is probably NEVER going to be any fish actually from Rio Iriri that looks similar to L236...

So any fish that you actually find in shops will 99.9% surely NOT be L236, whether it is listed as such or not.

The fish you call L316/L340, I'd say is "neither", although I'm not sure what it is... L340 is closer, but I wouldn't say it is so based on just that.

For almost all L-numbers, a capture location is necessary to determine the correct L-number (there are several "same-looking" fish that have differnet L-numbers based on the fact that they are exported from different locations - in some cases even simply because they came out of Venezuela and Columbia, although the border between those two countries run through the middle of Rio Orinoco and Rio Meta at parts of the border between the two countries - so should it really be different L-number just because it happens to be caught on the north or south bank of the same river [or east/west]?
