I have had this catfish for 6 months or more, I believe I know what the catfish is however I want to be 100% and also I am after information about the catfish in question as I have researched and only small parts of information are found.

I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure it's a Plotosidae family fish, which also makes sense based on your location (the species in this family are mainly located on the southern hemisphere around Australia).
My best guess would be on
, particularly as it exhibits the "humpback" look described in the "Identification" section on that species.

Thats pretty much good enough for mine as 100% as it was labled as a Rendahls catfish or P. Rendahli.
I own a juvinile and the one in the picture in the Original post.
Easily one of the most confusing fish ever it spent 4 months hiding and only coming out at feeding time and would dart away if I made a sudden movement then one day it suddenly swam around and ignored everything. It's habits are very odd, resting it's tail tip on the substrate with it's head up on the glass in a diagonal line is one.
