YARRELLI, ATTU, OR LEERII CAN'T DECIDE

Post by fwlion »

I CAN NOT DECIDE

I have been THINKING pretty hard about which species I really want to keep I just can't decide between the three

which species is most aggressive, active, owner responsive, fastest growing, easiest to wean, hardest, etc....

Can't say much about any of them (other than you'll need plenty of water for them, as they grow to between 5 and 6.5 feet, meaning you need something in the region of 25 x 12 x 8 foot (L x W x D) of pond to keep one of these in a reasonable comfortable environment).

There's quite a few posts on Wallago leeri if you search the forum, including one post by Silurus who kept his for about two years, growing from it 8 to 24 inches. The March 2004 Catfish of the Month article covers this fish.

I didn't search for W. attu, but I expect there to be at least one or two posts on this subject.

Considering you live about 5 to 6 hrs away from me, I would suggest you go with Bagarius yarelli...:D. They are totally awesome catfish, lots of color, get large, and have tons of personalities. Your outdoor pond will help a lot as well...;). Plus I'll be able to come over and see the beast! :D
