synodontis nigrita furniture question

hi all,
i have a synodontis nigrita (about 4 inches) in my 55g tank housed with dither fish (5 redeye tetras). close to 1/2 of the tank is covered with driftwoods/rocks/ and leaves..i expected my s.nigrita to be happy with this setup,,however, i've never seen it hiding under those furnitures. it's been hiding behind the intake part of the powefilter all the time. is there something wrong with my current furniture setup for s. nigrita? or is it common for synodontis to be hiding behind the intake of powerfilters? thanks.

This depends on how you arrange the driftwood/rocks. I would try to provide two or more crevices that it would feel comfortable in. These crevices should ideally be not much larger than the fish itself.

thanks for the suggestion, Silirus. I will try get a suitable pvc pipe or something like that and see if my s. nigrita will feel comfortable enough to get away from the powerfilter intake hideout. thanks again.

I ve got some uside downs, mine have split in to ywo groups. one group spends its time in and around the power head and the other spends its time it a buch of floating plants. Because of the currents in the tank these plants have formed a ball and are continuley rotating the fish spend all there time in there. they come out when theres food about but the rest of the time they're content to be in the plants
