thanks zeny.
that is also a possibility I suppose. if I keep looking through my L-numbers they'll look familiar to some more. Maybe I'll give them some time to grow, they are only about 3"long now.
Then again looking harder at 'em you're probably spot on, L001 they are. :)

There is no dought that they are L001,Glyptoperichthys joselimaianus. These fish can vary their coloration according to their mood and also to try to match their surroundings.Your fish just dont have their best coloration right now.

Thanks Kostas.
I'll post some pics as the fish grow, it may be a while though. I'm still on the lookout for a large, to grow large 'plec', something like an Adonis, not easy to find at a sensible price though.

I've seen for sale at "reasonable" price, a few tens of pounds for a small (2-3") fish. To me, that's not beyond reasonable, compared to the cost of buying/maintaining a tank that is at least nearly suitable for a 3 feet fish. You'll need at the very minimum something that is of the order 10 x 5 x 3 feet in size, and even if you build that yourself from the least expensive materials, you'll be looking at a few thousand pounds. Of course, if you want to buy a more mature specimen, they are more expensive, but also you need the big tank/pond sooner, so it's still "reasonable".

Thanks Matt.
I since been told of 2" specimens being sold in Wholesale trops. My tank is 10'x2.5'x 2' deep housing mostly C/ams.
Maybe I am aiming too high for an Adonis, besides they do loose their fab colouration as they get bigger. A 2" fish I realise will take years to attain anything near 3' sharing a tank with all my cichlids.
All I really am after is an unusual 'plec' that will grow to a decent size, a similar size of a 'sailfin' for example.
The 'plecs' I have at the mo are,
2x4" L001
2x3" L075
1x12" 'sailfin'
1x8" 'common plec'
1x6" golen'common plec'
1x3" 'bristlenose'.
Only the bottom 4 are in my 10'er, the other 4 share a 2'x2' with a 2" 'pink'v.fenestratus.
Sorry about the use of common names Matt, I find it, sometimes, easier.

3 foot is really pressing it for an adonis. I thought 2 was closer to realistic. Mine will, should it grow that large, have to live in a 6'x3'x2'. We shall see.
