When I got back from fetching the kids from school today, I saw our female Arabesque was out and about. She is still swimming around being "very" friendly, 5 hours later.

She's not out looking for food, because she's swam past her shrimp a few times, already eaten some. She's been over to the other L260 who just ignores her. She's been pretty active, swimming everywhere. Not seen so much action from her before. Do you think it's normal, or should I start to worry???

Maybe she's just happy! Once mine got settled in the tank you can see them out and about (the females more so than the males). That's great you got to take some good pics!

She doesn't have any stress bars so I sure wouldn't worry about her!

Thanks all.
I was just a bit worried, since they aren't like the rest of our fish (like the cories who are out all the time). She was out all of last night, till hubby decided to give the tank a clean. But she's been out since to eat and flare her dorsal for who ever wants to see it. They are my very favorites, so just wanted to make sure she was ok.

From the looks of that tummy I'd say she's out cruising for a little love.

I had the same thoughts as soupfish. My females cruise and sometimes have minor scuffles at feeding time. My males are more inclined to stay in their caves or watch the females from the entrances. When a female comes near a male's cave he will display with raised fins and enticing moves. I have 12 of them in one tank. They're a favorite of mine.
Your's is a beauty and so are your photos.

Thanks guys
We only have one cave in the tank at the moment, which SHE sits in all day. If the male comes to that side of the tank, she comes out as if she's hoping he'll go in. He does go into the cave, sometimes, but if she comes back,he's off. They did at one point, use to swim around together and eat together and hang out in the same corner, but now he just stays away from her. Do you think he's scared of her? Eventually we will have a tank for them and I think I'll have to look out for another male. Arry seems very scared of her.

You need to definitely get another cave for the male. They will stay in their own territories until mating. That's just common nature for most plecos, they aren't what I would call social animals.
