Hi guys, I hope all is well.

I just acquired 6 adult Zebras (YEEHAAAAA!!!!!!) and need help sexing them. I'm confident of 2 fish being males but not too sure on the rest.

Zebra numbers 1, 4, 5, and 6 are all 6-7cm and numbers 2 and 3 are 8-10cm.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

#2: Female (90%)
#3: Female (80%)
#4: Male (90%)
#5: Male (90%)
#6: Female (80%)

What a super quick reply MatsP! Thanks for that. It'll be interesting to see what others have to say too as I've had many differing opinions but all are appreciated and taken into consideration regardless.

Thank you once again.

Cheers,

Nick.

If Mats is right, that's a sweet breeding group! Good luck with them!

I imagine that a steady supply of zebra fry "down under" will be pretty lucrative for you. :)

Thanks drgold.

I'm wanting to breed them more for the challenge and to get their numbers up in the world so to speak rather than for the money side of things but as you said, yes it can be lucrative in Aus to breed Zebras.

Cheers,

Nick.

im deffo no expert on zebs but i think:
1. male
2. male
3. female
4. male
5. male
6. not sure but think male

I think I agree with StiffMeister. I read somewhere that if the black line on the top of head runs straight down to the pectoral fins then it would be a male. If there is a break in that line then its likely to be a female.
