Cory Cats and Substrate

I have 4 cory's, 2 alibinos, and 2 3-lined. We have a slightley, but it is coted with something so it is not as sharp, there is nothing else sharp in the tank. Thier barbels aren't shorter either, is this ok 
I think cory's are angels, because they would never hurt anything(unless it was dead, then it is food)
