I read the CotM archive on the cuckoo and it brought up a few questions in my mind. Maybe the information it presents has changed in the four years since it was written, but some of it seems a bit off.
The archive states that S. multipunctatus have no spots on their belly, but I have seen some that do. Has anyone else observed this?
Also, the article talks about cuckoo eggs that don't get picked up by the cichlid female and rest amoung the substrate. I was wondering if this is what you guys were talking about when you said that you have seen S. multipunctatus substrate spawn in your tanks. Are there host cichlids in the tank or just the cuckoo? or are the catfish just straight up substrate spawning?

Normally multis indeed have spotless bellies. But as this species has been hybridized (as well ), perhaps you have seen hybrids instead of the real multi. Could you post a picture of them?Zoopse4Lyf3 wrote:The archive states that S. multipunctatus have no spots on their belly, but I have seen some that do. Has anyone else observed this?
