At last I've been looking for these for 4 years!
I thought that it looked like Lepthoplosternum pectorale

easiest way to see if it's Lepthoplosternum or callichthys: take a pic from the belly.
if it has visible 'pectoral shields' it's lepthoplosternum; if it seems to lack those and the entire belly looks like it's just skin: callichthys.

As with previous ID question, it's unlikely to be
L. pectorale due to locality of the exporter... [Either that, or my geography of South America is completely screwed up and Peru is on the South-Eastern side of SA!
]
Lepthoplosternum beni would be a possibility -
Fishbase - not much details tho'.

Whether L.pectorale or L.beni, the point is that it's not Callichthys callichthys, which is the main interest of the initial poster. The body is too high, the tail is not rounded enough and the eyes are placed differently.
I've been fooled too many times: thinking I came home with Callichthys and then it turned out to be some Lepthoplosternum .....

Yup... I agree it's not a
Callichthys. The eyes are too big for this species... It should look like this:
Best regards.

SUCCESS!!
The catfish arrived yesterday afternoon at
Wholesale Tropicals

I went to see them today and they are definitely Callichthys
Long body, small eyes... So I got 3 pairs.
I'll post some piccys after they've settled down.
