Went to pick him up yesterday. And what a beauty Image well in my eyes anyway !

Not shy at all But I didn't really get a proper chance to take pics yet - and getting a new macro lens for my camera on Thursday, so should be able to take some much better photos then !!
I need to take some daylight pics to bring out his bright colouration - or perhaps just learn to use the camera better Image

Apologies, but the tank isn't properly set up yet - just haven't got round to sorting it all out yet. It's my "new" 100 Gallon but didn't come with enough sand (if it had a decent 2" of sand, you wouldn't see the silicone reflected on the inside bottom sides that keep the trimming panels in place). And while I'm trying to find the same sand, I'll have to do with half an inch and constantly uprooted Vallis.

Also, I added an extra outlet during this heat for some extra water movement - and the plecs are actually loving it ! They are constantly swimming in the strong outflow. But hence the sand blown away on the bottom and seeing bare glass.

Hello

Indeed a beauty !!! Very nice.

To your little problem with sand blowing away. I somehow know this

Here is my solution:

Take a piece of foam (you know.. for filters etc). Cut it to suitable thickness.
Plant some echinodorus tenellus in the foam.
Throw a little sand on the foam - and you have a hurricane-safe area :)

Kind regards
Line

Did you buy him at Wholesale Tropicals? They had some beautiful ones the last couple of times I was there.

Thank you Line - good tip !

Thanks andregurov - I just fell in love with those 8)

Yes indeed Chrysichthys  he as the last one actually. I've been eyeing them up for quite a few weeks now since they came in. But as they were in a slightly lower than eyesight level tank, right at the top corner of the filter outlet, I don't think people saw him. My luck !!

I was also a bit hesitant dishing out £45 for a new import (in case it died!!) - but as they've been there for quite a while now, I felt a bit more reassured. Especially that they have been in very similar water now for a number of weeks.
