I know it may sound like a bad mix, but has anyone ever actually used them for shipping plecos? I heard they are more durable than regular poly-bags used for shipping fish, but everyone tells me they would puncture in no time if they came in contact with any of the spines. But my sole reason for wanting to use them is because they allow for more water area without sacrificing oxygen availability.

Don't do it.

I have seen examples where a spine puts a small hole in the bag, and since its full of water, it slowly drains and basically vacuumm seals the fish, not pretty.

I am sure others have other experiences, but this is what I have seen.

does the vacuum effect happen only with the breather bags ?
I was just wondering as I have had some L144 (they were fry)via courier in regular fish bags though, although luckily the bags didnt break but those containing all the non catfish did break and the fish were swimming around in the water with newsprint mixed into it in the bottom of the fish box they didnt even double bag them, all the fish were alive but I was annoyed when they died about 2 weeks later.
The L144 didn't die, they just disappeared from the tank which has been a real mystery I've never been able to solve to be honest.
