hi all
what would be the optimum size for a breeders team.i have 8 sterbi even though it seems to be the same male and female each spawning .and i have 12 wild shwartzl.(they havent spawned yet) should i split them up or leave them in the larger groups?

Henrik isn't wrong.
It very much depends on what you're actually trying to achieve... If you want to get the most spawns, you may want to keep a trio (2m/1f) separate in a tank, but if you just want the fish to be happy and breed when they want to, with no particular goal of making the biggest possible gain, just keep the 8 or 12 that you have as they are.

I have 19 adult Corydoras Sterbai in a 160 liters tank, and they've spawned 3 times right where they are.
I have hatched the eggs in a separate tank only once because of the time issue (never enough time...).
They seem to be more happy when kept in a large group, and I like to keep mine happy:-) They share the tank with some catfish like L-134, L-270 and L-144.
This is one of the results:) They are approx. 4 months old now.
