synodontis nigrita maybe sick?

Hello
I purchase a Synodontis Nigrits about 6 months ago. It was doing really well had it in a 10 gallon with a large pleco. I have move both of then into a 50 gallon about a month ago.
The syno seems fine in the way of eating and moving. My concern is that it has developed white patches on its sides and at the base of the dorsal fin. I'm not sure what these are or how to treat them.
I have been doing a 30% water change every week or two. I have a wisper 30-60 and two rena filstar xp3's. The ph is between 7.2 and 7.6. The nitrates and ammonia are 0.
Could some one please let me know what this is, what's causing it, if I need to be worried and how to treat.
Also the pleco is fine but not as active as I have seen it.

Thank you it does look similar. The spots on my syno aren't on the lateral line though. Still could be some sort of bacterial infection.
What do you recommend to treat it. I'm in Canada so some meds are not available here.

Syno's are in for the long run; mediumsized Syno's can easily live 15 years, and sturdy ol' workhorses like the nigrita can and do turn beyond 20 in captivity quite common.

bigger Syno's like the granulosus are known to last 30 years and more.....

My syno has had those spots for ages too, though it has not changed in behaviour and is still as healthy as ever. Could it be as they are leaving one stage in development to another. Leaving 'juvenile - hood' and entering adulthood?
