G'day All

I am new to the forum and only still learning about plec*s :D . Perhaps this info is on the site and I have missed it. (I do suffer from domestic Blindness so I am told! Perhaps it extends to the web?)
However thera are a few things that I would like to know.

Perhaps this info could go up on the web sits and help others that are struggling.

How do you get the water to the correct pH and keep it there? :?: There have been many refernces to this and it appears to be assumed knowledge, but...
(I also keep Cichl*ds and for that I can maintain their pH without any problems! Alkaline = Easy)

Eg. how do you maintain a pH of say 6.0 ?

Next question, Do you use R.O. water, tap water, rain water,or ????

Do you use vitamins or mineral supplements? If so could you please tell me the brands or recipe? I have used and made various cichl*d buffers and I have possibly (???) heard of Catfish buffers. Do these mythological items actually exist?

Thanks for your assistance.

Welcome.

;) there are so many different ways to do catfish and plecos it's not real easy to do a how to page, cause most of the time someone else will make a totally different one and both will work.

Lowering pH can easily be done with peat in the filter. you can buy the aquarium stuff or just regular peat from the garden center, but make sure the latter is totally unfertilized... There are apparently brands better than others for lowering pH, but I'd rather not risk it and I bought aquarium peat. I've stopped using it, I've got wild discus happy in tap water, I'm not going to mess with peat.

Is there a special reason you want to lower your pH? most plecos are pretty tolerant of different pH's in my experience
