hello guys, i was just wondering if this is a L090? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=57929338

the seller has stated it is and i am wanting to purchase a smaller plec, say 20cm that would be happy living in a BB discus tank (with wood and a java fern, anubias etc on it). i was wanting to know the ID of this fish http://www.newzealanddiscus.com/photos.htm (go down to 'lyre tail', the one that looks like the royals) a while back and everyone said it was a L090, is there two differnt colour strains?

thanks guys

thanks oscar300!!

guessed it wouldnt be the 18cm he thought it would be :? im assuming it will grow to the average 40cm like the other L90 (the one that looks sort of like a royal)? they are around 6-8cm without tail at the moment, whats the average growth per month/s like on these guys? i could have a bigger tank down the line, not sure but it would be going into my BB discus tank which is 90x40x60cm, could be moved into the 142x45x52/130x60x60 later down the track...

There a typical panaque so slow growth is normal. With good fresh water, wood and a good diet I think 2" a year is do-able! I have a L90 variant and he is a great fish, sound like the same size as yours :D

L204 is much more managable size (max size around 15cm/6" TL), and I've heard that they are pretty easy on getting out and about.

But if you have some huge tank(s), go for the big fish...
