L200 max size

Post by jeremy242 »

I have seen on the cat-elog that thy grow to 7.2 inchs anyone have any that are bigger then that. Also what is there growth rate. I know that it dependes on the feeding but i just want to get a general feel for how fast they will grow. I just picked one up that is about 4 inches long and would like some input on him. Thanks

I haven't kept these fish, but a quick Forum Search on "L200 size" gave me some sort of idea. Since the genus or L200 is Baryancistrus, it's giving us a good idea that this fish, at least in common aquatic condtions, isn't a quick grower.

As to size, it appears that it depends on whether it's a "hi-fin" or "lo-fin" version.

Here's a thread on the subject, where Shane says that the one type grows to around 15-20 cm (6-8" total length) and the other to around 25-28cm (so around 10-11" total length) http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... =l200+size

Note that Total Length is always bigger than the Standard Length that is given in the Cat-eLog.

This fish has been discussed many times, so I suggest you try the Forum Search feature and check through the different posts that come up. [If you have specific questions, like "max size", you may want to try typing "L200 size" and click the box for "Search all words", which means that only threads that contain BOTH L200 and Size will be shown.]
