Need Catfish I.D. Please!

Went to the local fish store to get some ghost shrimps and in the tank they got a catfish hitchhiker so they gave it to me. It's less than on inch long.... anyone know what kind it is , Husbandry and how big it may get? Thanks!

You need to be a registered user to view the pictures where they're at now. I suggest you host the pictures somewhere more accessible.

I think you have a baby black bullhead (
). There is a very slight chance it may be a baby brown bullhead (
), but confirmation may have to wait until it's bigger.

Thanks! I put him/her in a 46g FW Bow with a large Angel two large Rainbow fish a smaller size albino Plec and Cory. The fish store they'll take it back if it gets too large, or can I put him in my pond? It get cold here in the Winter but not too extreme. I like watching baby/small fish grow up to large adults that's what I did with my Saltwater fishes.

As long as your pond does not freeze over in the winter, the catfish might be better suited in there. Bullheads can get somewhat ornery, and have the disturbing tendency to eat tankmates.

Thanks for all the help! About what size should I think about putting him in the pond? As you can see he's just a fry now less than 1", do the grow fast?
