Hi.

i have 7 adult red whiptails, 2 males and 5 females.

I need some tips to get them to spawn.

tank is 2x18x18
Ph 6.6
GH 3
temp 26.5

I water change 2-3 times per week.

Feeding all the good stuff, from wafers to pumpkin and zucchini.

Here is a photo of their housing.

Any ideas to get a spawn:?:

mine spawn in smaller pipes, try cutting one of your pipes in half length wise. and then silicone it to a piece of slate or a ceramic tile.
Mine spawn in bamboo, I havent tried PVC

Well after a lot of time and patience i finally spawned them!

Ohhh, awesome! Look at this little bitty guys! I have a pair of these in a planted tank. Maybe someday I'll get that lucky ;). Are you finding them hard to feed?

That's just great. They are one of my favorites. I have a group of six that were very small when we got them but they have grown much faster than anticipated. They more than doubled their length in 3 months and are close to reaching breeding size. It is nice to have such an interesting and attractive catfish that seems to be so well adapted to aquarium life. I think they will become very popular as more are made available and their price comes down,
Of course I don't want them to become too cheap. Something has to help finance the aquarists's addiction.
They won't be any good as algae eaters from what I have seen; they prefer meaty foods.

Wow, that is incredible. They are so tiny. How cute are they!?!?!

I have 3, 2 males and a female. When you got them to breed, who instigated the spawning?? I will be setting up a breeding tank for mine soon, as the female is really plump and both males look fully matured.

What do you feed the fry?? And how big are they, they look so tiny??
