hi all

could you tell me if i'm the first to breed the L144 in the UK, i bred these fish on the 23.12.05,
if anyones bred them here are they as slow growing for them as they are for me, thats in a comparison with the bog standard bristlenose that we all see.
cheers

Knut Kjesbu has spawned them, I think the article is in Shane's world, not sure if he is in the UK tho?

hi guys
ive already read knut's article on the 144 and very good it is,
where mine differ is it's taken 2yrs for them to breed and the amount of young in the spawning, knut says he got 30-40 fry per spawn where'as mine had 155 fry on thier first spawn, and there wasn't much difference in the size of the breeders.
cheers

Knut are living in Norway
And I think L144 should give around the same amount of fry as the common Ancistrus, how many fry a female produce can depend on several things...feeding, water condition and of course the size of the female.

i can vouch for their slow growth rate , very slow compared to other members of the ancistrus family

Mick,
Did you spawn L 144 or A sp. 3 albino (aka A sp. 4)? I do not mean to sound patronizing but L 144 seems to have mistakenly become a common name for albino A sp. 3. As L 144 is the only amelanistic form in either the Aqualog or DATZ books, aquarists desperate to find their fish's L Number, too often are attaching L 144 to the common albino Ancistrus.
