If I am right, its a male as it has big bristles on the front of its face so it cant be egg bound. Is it acting any different than normal, I know that Plecs can get digestive disorders if not fed regular with green etc.

no this is majority of species. well fed greens with this species seem to be very bristly even females, she has them round her mouth she is starting to act skittish,

I can't really tell from the pic, but the bristles look like what should be expected from a female L183. I can't make out any bristles on the upper part of the snout, but the ones around the base of the head appear to be rather full. It appears to be a ripe female.

Your Post Subject line lists your fish as L183?
If L183 is Ancistrus dolichopterus, I don't think your female is/was A.D.
MAYBE YOU MEANT L182?

2 cents. spent.

My apologies....but I can't see a white seam on the caudal or dorsal fin in the pictures posted...so I wrote the post.
Sorry.

Sorry.
its fine mate i really thought they were l182's myself until i was reading the id on the l182.she had it on caudial fin a while ago but it seemed to have went away

Hmmm....
Well..., if it "went away..." I may stand by my original assesment. I know the full wide band gets thinner, but is still pretty evident on my breeding trio of Ancistrus dolichopterus...and any old adults I've ever seen. Your pics show a white tipping on the caudal (only), which is evident in other species, but that is not the stripe I'm familiar with.
I guess now is the time to also say that the first 2 pictures of your fish seem to indicate the fish is more of a coffee brown. The fish I know as A.D. is black.
Have you had fry yet?
Do they have the wide white band on the caudal and dorsal fins?
They'll be the final proof, I guess.

Good luck,
Kevin

no fry yet , but i rec the other fems are plumping up. that was my biggest fem, i will say they go black but with my lighter substrate(white) they seem to change colour to adapt, when they go on black background they go really black and their spots show like a stary nite, have a younger 1 with white band on caudial and on its tail.

Hi, it happened exactly the same thing to my female Ancistrus this week. She was very swollen and today she died :'( 12cm long she was my biggest fish.
When i retrieved her from the aquarium i touched her belly and she dropped some eggs.
So she died because she didn't layed the eggs? Or its a desease? She was with a male in the tank.
Why didn't she just layed the eggs so she could live? =S
