Pricing vs currency

In my Country, Canada, the dollar has risen in value.
$1US=1.15CAN exchanged vs. previous $1US=1.25+ CAN
But many, Canadian online prices, and store prices have not changed to reflect my dollar buying power.
I can order from US retailors but the individual brokerage fees and or the tariff on the small shipment, may be greater that the reduced fees the online stores would incur.
So that could be cash out the window as well.
Can you get around it?
What are the best ways to get my moneys worth, when purchasing products, does anyone pay attention to this stuff?
