Sailfin or not a Sailfin?

Post by Iporangensis Headach »

I am sure I have a 7" Sailfin Pleco but after looking at the pics I have some concerns,

1. my pleco's fin is more square and not as big (same shape as a sailfin molly

2. is the same colour but the opposite way round, i.e. dark brown body with light brown splotches, (not light brown body with dark blotches?)

Anyone?

Ill try and get a pic uploaded!

Hello,
I have one of these, currently at about 10 inches.
Likes a varied diet of courgette, potato, carrot, corn, prawns and bloodworm. Doesnâ??t ever touch the algae on the glass.
Mine seems to prefer a temp of 26. Any warmer, and pale stress colouring appears and is a lot less active.
Is always out and about with the lights on, and is tolerant of smaller plecos.
I think they like strong current, as always chooses homes near the powerhead flow.

And youâ??ll need shed loads of filtration as they poop like you wouldnâ??t believe!
Hope this helps.
:)
