Clearly not a Megalodoras, what do you see in this fish that makes you say that about
? The scutes look a bit like
right enough, but these develop a heck of a lot with age. What size is the pictured fish?

To my eyes its snout is too blunt for O.niger if you compare to these pictures.Secondly Oxydoras don`t have apidose fin as the one in matty`s picture.Could it be Centrodoras?

It is appx 12 total length.
Ive seen these fish before, on a fishing program the guy caught them near the outflow of a slaughter house in manaus he said the locals called them Heki does that ring any bells with anyone?

I have an 8" cat identical to yours, I am sure that they are centrodoras brachiatus. There is a picture and profice on this site, but there is very little info. Maybe someone out there knows more. I know mine is very peaceful and eats almost any food. He lives with several large Raphaels and synodontis cats.
