(I wanted to post in this thread.I posted in the link.) Thanks for bringing this up, Racoll. I'll hold off on TL and SL for now. I noticed that adipose fin is in the FAQs as well as the glossary. The FAQ is a description of the adipose fin's function. I imagine we may run into more of these as the glossary grows. At some future date, do you think we might be able to link some of the FAQs to the glossary, Jools?

Yes, I'd strongly agree with that. The FAQ may outlive its usefulness (you should see how many daft suggestions and SPAM it attracts) and certainly will likely in due course be enhanced or significantly modified.

In the meantime, add the data to the glossary after review in the normal fashion and then post in the bugs forum asking me to remove the FAQ entry.

The FAQ will need to cover forum and technical issues at least for a while as I don't see that stuff ever getting into the glossary.

Jools wrote:Clicking on size gives you this page: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/help_term.php#size

Does that answer the question?
It does, in a very clear manner, sorry.

I agree with racoll that it would be nice if it was possible to make it even more clear to first-time visitors (those mostly asking the question). It might be a bad idea, but maybe adding a small figure right next to the length information. I had something like this (very rough examåle) in mind (Jools, I hope you find it ok that I use an image from PC for this example...):

but smaller and not necessarily a loricariid. The drawback would be that the cat-eLog pages will be even more crowded like that, so I'm not sure if I really fancy the idea myself.

Edit: oups, got the transperancy wrong, oh well, you get the idea.

I think adding another graphic is a bad idea for cluttering reasons. Open to other suggestions like linking the SL text under the size graphic to the size explanation page and/or linking the terms in the catelog help page to the relevant terms in the glossary.

Let me know what you lot (i.e. the end users) think.

I think a link to the Cat-eLog is an excellent idea along with the glossary definition. I do understand people's need to see the definition visually, though. Sometimes the words don't do enough. I will make sure to take a good bit of time with these two terms(like we did with the synonym bunch). Jools, I'm wondering if a link to a graphic will show up in the "more" portion when I put the definition in. Some of the links that are popping up are quite nifty. Nice touch! :D

I agree on the cluttering argument. I think it might be worth trying to make "SL" a link. It might be useful to have have some sort of graphic on the target page of the link in addition to a definition in text. Especially for non-native-english-speaking readers, a figure will help, I think.

OK, I'm cool with the SL text linking to the catelog help page and that can have an image (or a link to an image) too. Also, let me know if any terms in the catelog help page should maybe be linked to glossary terms.

This is now done, it will take some time for it to update all catelog entries...
