aqua clear power head 30

Post by jeremy242 »

i just set up a river set up in my tank and i am running aqua clear 30 and the pump is a little noisy and i was wonderig if anyone else has used them and had the same result or is mine a defective one. Also is that noise going to stress the fish. I had it running all day yesterday and when i came back from work last night it was still a little loud so i turned it off so the fish could rest, but i turned it back on this morning. Let me know what you all think. Thanks

You may want to unplug the unit and make sure everything is in place and nothing is clogging the impeller. But, some powerheads are just plain noisy because the parts vibrate. Everybody seems to have a personal preference on powerheads. Ask 5 different people and they'll most likely give you 5 different answers.

I'll be the first :)

I use the smaller AquaClear 20 in one of my tanks. I experienced some vibrational noise in the beginning, until I fastened the powerhead very tight to the side of the tank, still using the hanger that was delivered with the powerhead.

You might make sure you don't have too much air running through the diffuser. That will make lots of air bubbles and noise.
