hyper sterbai corys

I just bought two sterbai corys and put them in my 30 gallon tank. All the chemistry values are normal and I change the water every two weeks. Also, in the tank are three platys and lots of baby platys. I've had the sterbai's about five days and they seem VERY hyper--almost constantly swimming up and down the height of the tank, repeatedly. Since I've never had sterbai's before, I'm wondering if this is normal for them? Or are they stressed being in a new tank? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I want them to be happy here.
Thanks--Jeanne

I suppose they could be getting ready for laying...
I had C.metae once, and they would scoot up the glass, then backflip back down to the gravel where they started. They'd take it in turns, and would do it all day!

The problem is that two is not enough for them to settle in as a shoal. You would be better off with five or six.

Mine do this on a regular basis. I also witnessed a large shoal doint it at the LFS. Looks like they just enjoy it.

They're chasing their reflections looking for more of their own kind. You need to get more. A group of at least six would be more like it.
