I have 2 other plecos which are commons, they dont have a rounded off nose like this one and shorter fins and tails, is there a few versions of the common?

There are individual variations in fish - just like other creatures, humans very notably so. Just look around your work-place (or home) and you'll see that not everyone looks the same.

I agree with the ID.

Actually, the term "common pleco" is applied to a half dozen or more spp of Hypostomus, Liposarcus, and Glytopterichthys. Over time it appears that "common pleco" has become the term for any medium to large sized plain-colored loricariid without an L Number.

I see different variations of this "short head" deformity in Liposarcus every now & then while looking over the commons at local shops. It's a common species, but a unique individual at least!

You should see the young twisted-up L.pardalis I have, and it's nothing compared to some I've seen..
