Ok, so the first two times I tried raising some C. paleatus spawns were unsuccessful. The first time, I had them in a plastic container floating in the main tank and they lived for about a week. Second time around, I put the eggs in a 5 gal tank where they managed to live for close to three weeks.
Today, I thought I saw them spawning early this morning (round 9AM or so) and sure enough, after running some errands and turning on the lights at 11AM, I saw some eggs. So, I grabbed a large ziplock container that I had bought for this purpose. I filled it about 2/3 of the way and placed the 32 eggs in the container. I also added about five drops of PimaFix for fungus control. I'll change close to 50% of the water every day until they hatch. Then'll I change the water twice a day to keep it as clean as possible. For food, once they've used up their egg sak I'll feed w/ microworms and Mr. Reed's No BS Fry Food. I'll leave them in the container for a couple of weeks until I can transfer them to various tanks in my house and take some to get credit at my local aquarium society. Does all this sound reasonable to all you more experienced folk? Should I add an air stone? My only hesitation w/ doing this is that I'm very sensitive to noise when I'm trying to go to sleep (the tank's in the bedroom) and the noise of the pump will drive me bonkers. Oh, I also added some duckweed, couple of small water lettuce and some anacharis to help keep the water clean.
Here's a pic of the eggs and a pic of one of two frys from a previous spawn. The eggs hatched as soon as I moved them into the container.
